When you look at this, they are some things to consider;
1) These are AVERAGE measurables.
2) The average number of scholarships available per school is very misleading. For example; D1 offers 85. That means that they can only have 85 players on the roster that are on scholarship. So if only 12 graduate, that leaves 12 scholarships available. From those scholarships they need to replace those positions that have graduated. Also, some schools (especially in this region) may not offer scholarships even though they are eligible to do so.
3) Based on available scholarship money from above, (based on 10 available scholarships per year per school, on average) there is a combined 16,261 scholarships available in D1, D2, NAIA, and junior college on a yearly basis. That is 16,261 available scholarships to 1,112,303 athletes nationwide. That comes out to a .0146% chance of getting an athletic scholarship per athlete nationwide.
4) DIVISION 3 DOES NOT OFFER ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPS. However if you are a GREAT student, you may qualify for institutional ACADEMIC scholarships.
